AZAROV Dmitry Evguenievich
an artist and an actor.
He was born in the Ukraine in the city of Donetsk in 1964. Dmitry
Azarov graduated from the Theatrical Department of the Voronezh
Art Academy. He worked in various theatres of the Ukraine and
Russia as an actor and stage director. Dmitry Azarov lives in
the city of Vishny-Volochok in Tverskaya Oblast, works as an actor
in the Vishny-Volchok Theatre and paints. He is a member of the
Russian Theatrical Artists Union, is married and has two children.
Dmitry Azarov has been exhibiting his paintings since 1987. Azarov's works are owned by a number of galleries and private collectors in Russia and abroad.
The main theme apparent in the creations of Azarov
Saint Petersburg. But the artist is interested not so much with
the regaled appearance of the city, or of its hidden secret lives.
Therefore, more often he paints courtyards, small squares and
other secluded places.
Though in his works Azarov does not immediately present people,
the perspective of his landscapes are inspired by the hidden presence
of the person The energy of meetings, separations, sorrow
and joy.
One of his pictures of a Petersburg courtyard is so named
Here Live People.
Occasionally resonating in his works are notes of tragedy and
elements of mysticism which do not suppress or confuse the observer,
because the artist skilfully intonates the emotion present.
The arrangement and interpreted realism of his images are both
homogeneous and intimate.
His City is romantic, mythological and simultaneously dynamically
realistic

ANUFRIEV Victor
Born 1958.
1978 Pedagogical College, Gorodets
1991 Faculty of Monumental Painting, V. Myxhine Academy of Applied
Arts, Saint Petersburg
1994 Member of Artists Union, Russia
Victor Anufriev was born on the Volga, and it played an enormous
role in the formation of the style and manner found in his works.
Volga's expansiveness, their seemingly boundless steppe; contributed
to monumentalism and the frescoe-styled rudimentary atavistic
symbolism in his images.
Victor graduated from Myxhine Academy of Applied Arts in Saint Petersburg.
In works of the artist, fantasy is interlaced with archaic paganism
and eastern mythology.
To adequately portray expressive emotion, Victor Anufriev invented
a special painting technique. Plain acrylic and pastel oils create
visual dimensional interplay. The picture breathes and is alive;
it transfixes the viewer with linear movement; their open colours
resonate power and harmony. The artist is musical in his canvases,
though this may sound a paradox describing 'frozen' painted images.
The works of this talented artist are interior; not in the sense
of a decoration attached to the architecture of a dwelling, but
in the sense of the establishment of limited auras of individual
dominion. They will adorn any interior, be they Ultra-Contemporary
or Classical Baroque or Modern.
Victor Anufriev has become a recognised master; his creative imaginative freedom; unique perspective, and each time something fresh is revealed in his works...

About the Gallery...
One of oldest galleries of Saint Petersburg Guild of Masters
is conveniently located in central Petersburg on Nevsky Prospekt
the main thoroughfare.
Guild of Masters is the family operated business of Yury
Volkotruyb and Larissa Stariegina.
At the end of 1987 in a flooded cellar an idea was conceived to pioneer the first fully independent exhibition hall. But as usual, where to find money for this newly conceived project? Work commenced on a private-collection exhibition which was to be hosted at PetreDvorets near Saint Petersburg, but was unrealised during Russia's perestroika period.
The premiere exhibition of April 1990 was the photo-exhibition
of Yury Rost titled People. The second exhibition, organised
by the gallery, a photo-exhibition Under the Sky of Russia,
opened in the Vladimir Blessed Mother of God Cathedral (the Cathedral
so named after the Russian Icon), receiving blessings by the Russian
Orthodox Church's Bishop Alexei. These exhibitions may have defined
the direction and character of the activity of an exhibition hall
art for people. Within a year it transformed itself into
a gallery.
The gallery does not therefore limit works to any single style,
trend or type of contemporary artwork. It presents a broad spectrum
of paintings, graphic works and decorative applied art.
The main criteria of Guild of Masters which is immediately
obvious at the gallery; higher artistic level; radiance and creative
individuality of the artist; requisite harmonised conventional
materials which are readily recognised by the viewer; their ability
to influence human existence, supplementing its themes by eliciting
positive emotions.
In the gallery it is possible to view works of the artists, whose
works are also displayed in museums abroad, and creative works
by young recognised talented artists.
In the gallery permanent expositions of Petersburg Masters are
shown, and in one of the halls of the gallery you will find personal
exhibitions, of which there have been more than 170 including:
Vyecheslav Mikhailov, G. Bogomolov, A. Batuyrin, A. Talashuyk,
A. Zadorin, A. Einshtein, G. Zybkov, H. Savinova.
The distinction of a museum of private collections forms the founding tradition of participation for the gallery in important cultural projects, for example, three years of active participation by Guild of Masters to create a monument to Saint Lord Prince Alexander Nevsky at Ploshad Alexandra Nevskogo Alexander Nevsky Square. Talented sculptor Valentin Kozenyuk, the winning competitor for this project, unfortunately passed away before completion. In his will, the director of Guild of Masters was assigned as Principal of the workshop, which in the near future will complete the work begun by Valentin Gregorevich.
A notable page in the history of the Gallery has become its participation in restoration works in Pushkin Museum-Reserve. Thanks to the collaborative efforts by ceramic artists, whose works are regularly exhibited in the gallery, have rebuilt a ceramic workshop. At the Estates Mikhailovsk, Petrovsk and Tregorsk they restored and where necessary recreated remarkable tiled ovens. Now the artists, established in Guild of Masters regularly conduct their personal exhibitions in an exhibition hall, equipped directly in the Pushkin Museum-Reserve at Mikhailovsk Estate.
